S.O.S FOR THE IDA MOUNTAINS

THE IDA MOUNTAINS ARE BEING SACRIFICED TO GOLD. THE IDA MOUNTAINS SHOULD BE ON THE WORLD CULTURAL HERITAGE LIST.

People of the world: Asians, Africans, Americans, Europeans…
If you are among those who say the colours in the world should not fade and the oxygen should not be depleted, then we are calling on you.
Say “No” to those who want to turn Mount Ida into a wasteland.
Support our call to have Mount Ida included in the World Cultural Heritage List.
The Ida Mountains, located in the Northern Aegean part of Turkey, represent the past, the present and the future of the human race. They belong to the world – to the whole world. They represent the world’s cultural heritage. For the sake of a handful of gold, greedy gold mining monopolies are destroying a geography that is crucial to the human race, just as pirates used to sink entire boats for a handful of gold. These monopolies are the pirates of our day. For four years, night and day, they carried out exploratory drilling. Today, they’re at the stage of beginning production. They are plundering Mount Ida. No one should be allowed to touch Mount Ida. Mount Ida should not be turned into a stone quarry.
That is why we are sending out this S.O.S
The Ida Mountains are the home of gods and goddesses. The Ida Mountains are sources of oxygen. The Ida Mountains represent life itself. They represent water and bread. The Ida Mountains are mythology, they tell seven thousand-years of human history. They are at the geographical heart of cultural origins. They represent archaeology, the home of bio-diversity, of endemic species and wild life habitat.
Today, the IDA Mountains are under occupation. For a handful of gold, the cannibals, plunderers, barbarians of our day want to destroy them, with their cyanide, their heavy machinery, their dollars, their regulations and their lies. Mother IDA and all her children are in grave danger. Our water and our fertile lands will be poisoned with cyanide and with heavy metals. All living things and human beings who live on the foothills of Mount IDA will lose their health and their source of oxygen. Endemic species will disappear. Cultural heritage will be lost forever.
That is why we are sending out this S.O.S.
The IDA Mountains represent the Dardanelles; they are Turkey, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the USA, and Africa. The IDA Mountains represent the world.
They represent Homer, the Illiad, the Oddysey, Helen, Paris, Achilles, Hector, Zeus…
The IDA Mountains represent Olympos and Troy.
That is why we are sending out this S.O.S.
That is why IDA should be on the World Cultural Heritage List.
If you share our view that “the IDA Mountains belong to the human race and that they cannot be destroyed,” please urgently communicate this to the government of the Republic of Turkey.
